Primary Tufting Cloth - the base for everything fluffy

The tufting cloth is the foundation of your rug, making it essential to select the right one for your project. Many people ask if they can tuft on other types of fabric, but unfortunately, this isn’t possible. The tufting machine needle is wide and doesn’t carefully stitch the yarn into the fabric like a punch needle. Instead, it forcefully punches the yarn into the cloth, which requires a durable and tear-resistant material.

Whats the difference between the Premium and the Saver Tufting Cloth

We always recommend our Premium Tufting Cloths, made from 100% polyester. These cloths are incredibly strong and tear-resistant, ensuring a stable and reliable base for your tufting projects. With this premium option, you can be confident that your tufting cloth will hold up under tension and provide a sturdy foundation for your creations.

We’ve also added the Saver Tufting Cloth to our collection, based on customer requests. This cloth is made from a blend of polyester and cotton, making it better suited for smaller projects. It doesn’t handle high tension as well as the premium option, so we recommend it for projects no larger than 1x1 meters.

Choose the right tufting cloth for your needs to ensure a smooth tufting experience and long-lasting results.

What’s the Difference Between White 70/70 and Gray 60/60 Tufting Cloth?

The primary difference between the white 70/70 tufting cloth and the gray 60/60 tufting cloth is the density of the weave. The numbers indicate how many threads are woven per 10x10 cm. This means the white 70/70 tufting cloth has a tighter weave than the gray 60/60.

For larger projects, such as rugs over 1.5x1.5 meters, we recommend using the gray 60/60 tufting cloth. The looser weave allows better tension distribution across the fabric, reducing the risk of thread breakage. When working on large surfaces, the tension can build up significantly as the rug is filled, and even durable polyester threads can eventually snap under extreme pressure.

Choosing the right tufting cloth is essential to ensure your project’s stability and longevity, especially for larger rugs. For smaller projects, either option works well, but for larger rugs, the gray 60/60 cloth is your best choice.
